Respect Does Not Mean Agreement

Respect is not synonymous with agreeing with another person. I think for some this is a real challenge on a regular basis and for many of us it can be on an occasional basis. It’s lovely when we can agree and see eye-to-eye on everything; but that is not realistic.

I was having a conversation with someone, as I have had in the past many times over. Unfortunately, there is a recurring meta theme that it is desirable to always see things the same way and if not, to sometimes threaten conflict. The need for total, unquestioning agreement is born out of insecurity in many cases.

What do we gain by always agreeing? What if we are agreeing on something that is dead wrong or feining agreement? In psychology, we call the latter, pseudomutuality. Isn’t it more respectful to speak genuine opinion and certainly of most profit, to speak truth based on the Word of God?

I also have had opportunity to dialogue with others recently about what it means to live your life as a Christian especially in these days, which I believe are the end of the age. It is concerning to me when I hear studies citing that up to 88% of Christians do not read their Bibles, at least not on any sort of regular basis.

I’ve had several encounters recently where I made comments about believing we are in the final days, the mark of the beast, being willing to be martyred for the cause of Christ and so on.

I am so concerned for the state of individual Christians and the corporate Church. (I am specifically refraining from using the term the Body of Christ because not everyone in the church is part of the body.) By no means am I saying that I have arrived or have it all understood or figured out. I do firmly believe, however, that we are to embrace the main purpose for our lives – being transformed and conformed to the image of Christ. I also believe that if one does not stand courageously through the power of the Holy Ghost now, that they will almost certainly be doomed as times get tougher.

I think that we/the True Followers, will be labeled as nuts and doomsday propagators as we take a stand. I think a lot of people are not benefiting from pursuing the deep level of relationship that can be had with Heavenly Father, Lord and Savior and Holy Ghost. I know I’m not fully satisfied and want to grow closer on a daily basis.

By the power of Holy Ghost, I’m all in! What does that mean exactly? The bottom line of it is that I want to seek a deeper relationship and hear from Abba daily, in fact several times a day, clearly. I want to stay in an attitude of prayer and be in prayer throughout the day. I want to go to the mat for the Lord! He has raised us up for such a time as this. Now is not the time to cower or shrink back. In Luke 9:62, Jesus said, “Anyone who puts their hand to the plow and looks back, is not fit for the Kingdom of Heaven.” Now is the time to stand, be radical as led by Holy Ghost (not provoking the satanic realm from your own desire), be bold andcourageous (not intimidated) just as we are encouraged in Joshua 1:9 because God is with us everywhere we go! It means being a martyr if that’s what we are called upon to be. Martyrdom is actually a great privilege.

While people are kindly silent when I express these sorts of what I believe to be truths based on the Word of God, I wonder, are they ready? Are they ready? Please, get ready. God, help me to stay ready!

Limited by Logic?

Many of us are familiar with Proverbs 3:5-6; but let’s look at more of that chapter as well.  “My son do not forget my teaching, But let your heart keep my commandments; For length of days and years of life [worth living] And tranquility and prosperity [the wholeness of life’s blessings] they will add to you. Do not let mercy and kindness and truth leave you [instead let those qualities define you]; Bind them [securely] around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart. So find favor and high esteem in the sight of God and man. Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]. Do not be wise in your own eyes; Fear the Lord [with reverent awe and obedience] and turn [entirely] away from evil. It will be health to your body [your marrow, your nerves, your sinews, your muscles-all your inner parts]…” Those are verses 1-8a in the Amplified version.

In the culture we live in, what was considered conventional wisdom, common sense and the like are not thus anymore. Our carnal mind as the Word says in Romans 8:7 is in direct conflict with/an enemy of God Himself. Therefore, we must be careful to use all of the tools God has provided to us. We need godly scientists, teachers, philosophers, dare I say theologians, therapists and restauranteurs to name a few areas of focus. God gave us our brains and logic; but if we solely rely on such, we will miss the supernatural. God is doing a new thing. He tells us that and asks if we are perceiving such in Isaiah 43:19.

I hope today you will dig deeper into what God is doing, hear what He is saying and respond in the Spirit.

Be limitless!

Living Bibles

We’ve probably all heard it said that we may be the only Jesus some will ever see and the only Bible some will ever read…So, I guess that makes us living Bibles. Hebrews 4:12 tells us that the Bible itself is, “alive and working” (ERV). When we portray the love, kindness, morality and standards the Bible sets forth, we are that city that is set on a hill and is unable to hide or be hidden as the Word describes us.

Targets, we become in the contemporary culture of moral relativism. In fact, I was watching Caryl Ayala from Texas Mass Resistance, online tonight who relayed that a pastor would not speak to his congregation about the sexualizing agenda being promulgated in the public school system because he chooses, “love over truth.” My dear friends and those who do not call me friend, lying is not loving.

I’ve left jobs because I would not “get with the program”. I don’t want to use the world’s definition of love as I watch folks blithely slip into a bitter eternity. In my industry and more and more across all sectors of society, all types of sins are called choices, rights, beautiful and so on.

The reality is that Satan is attacking the family, as Caryl astutely asserted; because it is a reflection of the kingdom of God and His Gospel spoken of in the Bible. If he can annihilate the understanding of the need and eradicate the desire for the basic building block of society, he has accomplished a tremendous feat. When pastors, political figures, teachers and joe citizens are afraid of standing in the gap and proclaiming truth, he has reason to cheer as more and more are blinded and there is a need to enlarge the very borders of hell itself. (Yes, hell is a real place of eternal separation from God, not just a poorly named city in California.)

This is not hate speech. We are truly seeing everyday in our society, a Scripture that growing up and even through my 20s I could not imagine how it could possibly come to pass: Isaiah 5:20-21, “Woe unto them that call evil good and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!” (KJV)

Please understand, I work in a culture that promotes all types of sexuality and other choices contrary to God’s plan and desire for us, which are born out of His omniscience and perfect love. That does not mean that I am shouting in peoples faces or that I always comment to the contrary. We must be lead of the Holy Ghost as to time, place and when we are to speak up, what words He would have us use. Sometimes silence is golden and shows much love. I just hope that we are lead of the Spirit and don’t cower to get more backsides in the seats on Sundays or compromise when it is time to boldly declare truth.

God bless you with peace, wisdom, discernment, courage, boldness and meekness today! We need it all!

He Speaks in the Night Season

I am at a crossroads and was awakened by a dream that lead me to prayer.

I picked up my phone to do some reading in a Bible app and God showed me two blog posts that ministered to me with words in due season. One quoted familiar Scripture passages from a translation I don’t typically read and caused the Word to come alive and speak in a way that was fresh to my spiritual ears.

God will send help and direction just when you need it. Don’t give up. And if you’re lacking clarity, fasting along with prayer and Scripture reading is a recommendation. My flesh hates it…That merely underscores how important it is…We are supposed to deny our flesh, take up our cross and follow Jesus, according to the Word.

When was the last time you fasted a meal, your favorite television program or…?

Blessings, my friends!
